"I've learned to accept my curves and to use all of my extremities to sculpt a story"

Whitney Giles has been dancing for Dayo since the very beginning. If Ebony and Dominique are the parents of Dayo, Whitney would be the Godmother. Not only has she give plenty of her time, she has shared her creative voice when it counted. Her power can be felt in the intro video on the Dayo homepage. Most recently, Whitney graduated from Howard University with her degree in dentistry. She calls her experience "gratifying", she explains, "though I experienced setbacks and goals weren't fulfilled within MY timing, it's always been right timing".

Hailing from New Jersey, Whitney's style can be best described as an old school house party that stumbled into a contemporary dance class. She is smooth on her feet and expressive with her body. Moving since she was 8, she calls dance her "companion" and her "outlet to express emotions". She credits dance with giving her the confidence to "be a black woman in this world today." To other aspiring dancers in STEM fields she says, "the sky is the limit...you can teach a class or two, link up with your dance sisters and vibe, or take dance classes during your spare time. Make time to do things you love!"

When asked about her relationship to Dayo, she says "Dayo is my family, the color of sisterhood", and reasonably so. Before there was a Dayo, there was Whitney, Moriah, Dominique and Ebony. They were friends with an unwavering passion for movement. Anyone who has been to college, or any tough experience, will know how valuable support is. These four ladies worked hard and supported each other through every step of the journey. Whitney states: "...the support from my Dayo sisters has really made an impact on my life"
